Pitchfork Music Festival happened at Union Park – 7/19-21

Another summer draws toward a close, another Death Grips show gets cancelled in Boston, and another massive amount of festival coverage gets posted to the Internet by me. I ventured to Chicago a few weekends ago for my third Pitchfork Music Festival, which once again

Deafheaven played T.T. the Bear’s – 7/3

Black metal/shoegaze experimentalists Deafheaven played a stunning and swelteringly hot pre-Independence Day show at T.T.s earlier this month. It was one of the best sets I’ve seen so far this summer. The review is up at Allston Pudding, and many more photos are up here.

Savages played Middle East Downstairs – 7/12

Loudly proving that they are, in fact, worthy of the hype, London post-punk quartet Savages sold out the Middle East Downstairs on Friday night. Check out my review for Tastemakers, and some more photos over here.

Come played The Sinclair – 6/27

I witnessed the 90s come alive for a night at the Boston stop of Come’s recent reunion tour, supporting the Matador reissue of their debut LP 11:11. Review over at Allston Pudding, more photos up here.

Report: Solid Sound Festival – Day 3

Report: Solid Sound Festival – Day 2

Day two of Solid Sound featured many of the weekend’s biggest names, including sets from Yo La Tengo, Low, Neko Case and the reunited Dream Syndicate.

Fucked Up played The Sinclair – 6/13

Toronto ragers Fucked Up returned to Boston with Paws and Twin Peaks in toe a few weeks back, which I reviewed for Allston Pudding. Check out more photos from the show here.

Boris played Brighton Music Hall – 5/5

Japan’s most versatile drone/doom/experimental metal band spent two nights in Boston last weekend as a part of their From the Past, the Present and Through to the Future tour. I was distracted by a former Smith during Saturday’s “greatest hits” set, but I made it

Wavves and FIDLAR played Brighton Music Hall – 4/8

On what is almost certainly the year’s most fitting double-bill, surf-punks Wavves and FIDLAR played a sold-out Brighton Music Hall earlier this month to an appropriately energetic crowd.
