Dyr Faser and Insect Factory played Industry Lab – 6/29

dyrfaser-1-2Boston Hassle’s POOL series, a self-described “experimental electronic night,” brought the final date of a co-headlining tour by locals Dyr Faser and Maryland’s Insect Factory to Cambridge’s Industry Lab last Wednesday.

The first segment of the night offered up two contrasting solo sets by local noisemakers, the first a droning soundscape by Aninverter and the next a more aggressive punch of warped electronics and vocals by Sam Rog.

The touring pair wrapped up the evening, with Dyr Faser up first. That project is headed by multi-instrumentalist Eric Boomhower, joined by local legend Thalia Zedek on guitar and vocals. The duo cast a dreamy spell with synths, drum machines, voice and dual Hagstroms that effortlessly kept the room mesmerized. Closing things out was Jeff Barsky, who goes by the stage name Insect Factory and performed an entrancing, slow-morphing drone-guitar set.
