Ghost Box Orchestra played Middle East Upstairs – 10/16

Ok, slightly behind on blog posting. But I’ll catch up. Here we have an excellent Friday night show from precisely a month ago, centering on Ghost Box Orchestra’s EP release and support from Major Stars, Boom Said Thunder and 28 Degrees Taurus.

Ghost Box are one of Boston’s preeminent shoegaze/psych-rock outfits, and they delivered as always on this night. Major Stars, the long running psych-jam project led by guitarists Wayne Rogers and Kate Biggar, put on a set that showcased their dueling fretwork and wah-pedal freakouts. They’re the kind of musicians who attack their instruments with such fervor and skill that it’s hard to think about much of anything else while they play.

Emphatic, heavy tunes from Brooklyn’s Boom Said Thunder and dreamy shoegaze with Allston’s 28 Degrees Taurus rounded out the evening nicely. Photos from each set below.
