Worshipper played Deep Cuts – 2/21

Boston metal stalwarts Worshipper topped a Saturday night bill rounded out by fellow locals Zip-Tie Handcuffs, Gossip Collar and Bastard Leg in Medford.

Few things feel more right in the universe than heavy metal on a Saturday night. It’s just the appropriate time for that kind of thing, and local favs Worshipper were more than happy to oblige the public’s demand last weekend at Deep Cuts. The foursome headlined a bill they also curated with a heady set of their melodic stoner-doom, following a similarly ripping set from their pals in the psychedelic garage-punk outfit Zip-Tie Handcuffs. Rounding out the night were Gossip Collar and Bastard Leg, with the former’s driving goth-rock being a pretty immediate hook for me and the latter’s punk-y, no-nonsense indie rock kicking things off in a satisfyingly bracing fashion. Add in visuals from the always-dazzling Dregs Liquid Light Show and you’ve got a quality evening on your hands.
