Gig Watch: December 2025

The Dream Syndicate at ONCE, December 2017

Shows not to miss in and around Boston for the month of December.

__________

Been a little quiet around here lately, but we’re finishing the year strong with some December picks.

12/1-12/2 – The Beths @ Royale

New Zealand indie-power-pop favorites The Beths return to town supporting new LP Straight Line Was a Lie. It’s their biggest local engagement yet with two nights Royale.

12/5 – The Bug Club @ O’Brien’s Pub

And for a similar taste from elsewhere abroad, Welsh Sub Pop signees The Bug Club take over O’Brien’s on Friday night.

12/6 – Raekwon & Mobb Deep @ House of Blues

Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon and Mobb Deep’s Havoc hit the road marking 30th anniversaries of a pair of their respective hip-hop classics in Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and The Infamous.

12/8 – Luci Dead Limb / Mousekid @ O’Brien’s Pub

Somergloom presents a bill of experimental and left-field sounds featuring friends-of-the-blog Luci Dead Limb (formerly of Boston metal greats Seed) and Mousekid (aka the very talented photographer Omari Spears).

12/10 – The Dream Syndicate @ Crystal Ballroom

Paisley Underground alt-rockers The Dream Syndicate present their classic 1984 sophomore record Medicine Show front to back on their winter stop at the Ballroom.

12/13 – Saddest Day 2025 @ Roadrunner

Local metalcore heroes Converge have had a relatively quiet couple of years, but alongside gearing up for the release of their first new record in nearly a decade, the quartet will headline the inaugural Saddest Day fest this month at Roadrunner. The band also curated the daylong happening, which includes a killer spread of likeminded pals like Touché Amoré, Soul Glo, Full of Hell and more.

12/14 – O’Brien’s Annual Holiday Party & Toy Drive with The Scrooges

It’s an Allston tradition – bring an unwrapped toy to donate and take in the finest drunken, Christmas-themed Stooges cover band good will can buy.

12/15 – Algernon Cadwallader @ The Sinclair

Reunited midwest emo favs Algernon Cadwallader head back to town, this time with a great new record (September’s Trying Not to Have a Thought) to pull from.

12/28 – Sunburned Hand of the Man @ Middle East Upstairs

Lastly, why not wind down your year with a dose of weirdness from the always-unpredictable experimental rockers of Massachusetts’ own Sunburned Hand?
