Animal Collective played the 9:30 Club – 6/11

I’ve missed more than a few Animal Collective shows in my time, so I took the loss of power and subsequent show cancellation at Washington DC’s 9:30 Club on the first night of the band’s three-day run to be an omen of doom. Luckily everything was sorted out by night two, and my five year quest reached its end. I’m not writing up a full review of this one since it happened almost a month ago now, but suffice to say that whoever tells you that Animal Collective is a bad live band really hates having fun. Being bereft of a photo pass, I brought my trusty Minolta and shot the best I could on film from the front row. Check out the intermittently interesting results here.
