Cheating a bit this week, since I never did get last week’s mix posted, and doubling up on this dreary Thursday. I’m heading to Chicago this weekend to cover my one major music festival of this very weird season at Pitchfork, so mix 109 centers on some down-the-bill artists I’m excited to see this weekend, including the reunited Fiery Furnances, Special Interest, Bartees Strange and more. The mix intended for last week covers a lot of ground, from the new Beach Boys Sunflower / Surf’s Up box set to Lee “Scratch” Perry (RIP) and new stuff from Chubby and the Gang, Steve Gunn and Water From Your Eyes. Oh, and that Turnstile band people are on about. I featured one of GLOW ON’s pre-release singles a couple weeks ago, but the whole record is as good as everyone says!
