Noise Floor Radio Volume 72

Touche Amore at the Paradise, May 2018

Number 72 in a weekly series of Noise Floor-curated playlists.

I have to admit to the fact that I was never enough of a genuine Classic Rock Teenager to have a Van Halen phase, which, looking back now, feels kind of unfortunate. Inspired by last week’s untimely passing of Eddie Van Halen, the band’s manic-shredding heart and soul, I sat down with their first two LPs and 1984’s synth-tastic 1984 for the first time. Setting the inescapable familiarity of those rock radio singles aside, they absolutely rip, and so this week’s mix kicks off with a heretofore unknown-to-me VH banger.

Elsewhere, check out some sprawling psych from REZN and Marmalade Knives, the show-stopping new Touché Amoré, the lovely new Cut Worms and the genre-hopping new Bartees Strange, plus Iggy Pop, Atoms For Peace and more.
