Noise Floor Radio Volume 41

New Order at Bank of America Pavilion, July 2013

Number 41 in a weekly series of Noise Floor-curated playlists.

I didn’t really participate in the annual #MWE Twitter experiment this year (wherein the concept is to listen an album you’ve never heard and compose a tweet-length review about it each day of the month), but I have been following along and pulling down some listening recommendations that worked their way into February’s mixes. This week, that’d be the brutish thrash-massacre of Dark Angel, which is so extremely up my alley that I’m not sure how they’ve evaded me this long. Elsewhere this week, new stuff from Grimes, Bonny Light Horseman (a folksy supergroup composed of Anaïs Mitchell, Josh Kaufman and Fruit Bats’ Eric D. Johnson) and Squirrel Flower, plus a couple bands who really made my Sunday last weekend and an old favorite from New Order (who finally announced a return to Boston this coming summer).
