Daughters and Health played Paradise Rock Club – 12/21
Providence doomsayers Daughters and LA industrial noise-rockers Health co-headlined a sold-out Paradise before Christmas with support from NYC’s Show Me The Body.
Still riding high on the 2018 release of their comeback LP You Won’t Get What You Want, Daughters stirred up an apocalyptic racket to close out their year before a rabid Boston crowd a few Saturdays back. The band turned in a powerhouse performance back in March at the Sinclair, and fed on the energy of a room double that size just eight months later. Their setlist stuck largely to the paranoid, industrial-tinged dread of that new record, but dipped back to the knotty mathcore of their beloved 2010 self-titled too. And even if their tempos skew a tad less violent than the band’s grind-y early days, Daughters still boast one of the fiercest live shows around – thanks in no small part to magnetic frontman Alexis S.F. Marshall.
Hailing from the other coast, Health brought a hair-whipping, strobe-blasted, borderline-danceable stomp to the other half of this co-headliner. The night started strong, too, with a set of bile from grimy hardcore three-piece Show Me The Body.
