Noise Floor Radio Volume 10

Belle & Sebastian at House of Blues, March 2015

Number 10 in a weekly series of Noise Floor-curated playlists.

Let me preface this week’s mix by saying there’s two records that aren’t on it which really ought to be prioritized over it: the heartbreaking return of Silver Jews’ David Berman as Purple Mountains (featured herein a few weeks back) and the barnstorming black metal of False (who I simply did not have the real estate for this time).

As for this week’s actual selections, hear some old favorites from Bill Callahan (who was in town Wednesday for a lovely show) and Belle & Sebastian (who take to the House of Blues with Ex Hex tomorrow night), the Angel Olsen/Mark Ronson collab I never knew I needed, some spooky Spanish-language post-punk, and cuts from a pair of tribute albums out this week that are deserving of your dollars (a front-to-back take on Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot to benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and a Frightened Rabbit tribute to benefit Tiny Changes, a mental health charity set up in memory of frontman Scott Hutchison). And, uh, Third Eye Blind!
