Kississippi played Northeastern – 1/17

Philly indie pop crew Kississippi played a Thursday night gig at the university’s afterHours with New York’s Adult Mom.

It’s not often these days that I find myself at afterHours twice in one week, but there’s no sense skipping a solid show amid the oft-barren January concertgoing landscape.

Philadelphia quartet Kississippi highlighted last year’s catchy debut Sunset Blush with a fun, loose set – one that I felt obligated to catch after narrowly missing them on September’s tour with Foxing (which was Eddie Vedder’s fault). Adult Mom, who memorably made the rounds with Lucy Dacus last year, were a great complementary opener.

Regrettably, the evening came with an unhappy ending, as Kississippi (and their pals in Prince Daddy & The Hyena) suffered a van break-in and the loss of some $7,500 in gear in Allston. If any of those guitars or other bits of gear (some featured the photos below) cross your path, the relevant contact info can be found at the band’s Facebook. And a Bandcamp download to help them recoup some losses wouldn’t hurt.
