Men I Trust played Northeastern – 1/14
Quebecois electronic trio Men I Trust headlined a show at Northeastern University’s Afterhours with Brooklyn art-pop crew Ava Luna and local indie trio Honey Cutt.
November brought up-and-comers Men I Trust to the Royale, supporting pop-dreamers Wild Nothing, and March will bring them to Cambridge’s Sinclair, but in the meantime the band stopped at Northeastern’s campus Starbucks for a mellow Monday night gig. The trio’s Chromatics-via-trip-pop sound was an agreeable mood for such an occasion, and drew a surprisingly sizable and enthusiastic student crowd.
Openers Ava Luna contributed to that pull (I hope), showcasing last year’s playful, funky and highly recommended Moon 2 with a fun and colorful set. Locals Honey Cutt (fka Baby!) balanced out the bill as the night’s sole guitar-driven act.
