Earthless played The Sinclair – 3/17

Heavy-psych warriors Earthless headlined a St. Patrick’s Day show at The Sinclair with Japan’s Kikagaku Moyo and LA’s JJUUJJUU.

San Diego trio Earthless are never a live band to be missed. The group’s blistering marathon psychedelic jams really need to be experienced firsthand, in all their cranked-to-eleven glory. Touring on their new LP Black Heaven, guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton and drummer Mario Rubalcaba returned to Cambridge’s Sinclair almost two years to the day after their last appearance, to the delight of a packed Saturday night crowd. They sounded huge as ever, bolstered this time by some mind-expanding visuals from the Mad Alchemy liquid light show that approximated the psychedelics for those of us not already on some. (Just beer and bourbon for me – even if St. Patrick’s is Boston’s go-for-broke partying holiday).

JJUUJJUU opened the night with some satisfying melodic psych, and Tokyo collective Kikagaku Moyo expertly melded inspired guitar freakouts into pastoral acid folk in the middle of the bill. They were a clear fan favorite whose profile ought to be rising.
