Temples played Brighton Music Hall – 10/29
U.K. psych rockers Temples returned to Boston on Saturday night for a Halloween-adjacent show with Los Angeles’ Vinyl Williams.
Temples have quickly earned themselves a fanbase over the past few years with a sound that melds retro psychedelia with a bit of garage rock energy and a strong debut album in 2014’s Sun Structures. They balanced familiar cuts with a healthy sampling of new songs (from their just-announced sophomore LP) at Saturday night’s show, and both sounded great before an adoring crowd. The band also sported some holiday-appropriate face paint, which was more akin to “face glue” by the midway point of the surprisingly sweaty set, according to lead guitarist/vocalist James Bagshaw.
Vinyl Williams – brainchild of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Lionel Williams – opened the night with an alternate psychedelic angle rooted in dreamy shoegaze and glitchy projections.
