Perfect Pussy played Middle East Upstairs – 12/16

Still got a few late 2015 blog posts to catch up on…first off, here’s a gallery from last month’s show with New York noisemakers Perfect Pussy and Big Ups. Perfect Pussy sets I’ve covered in the past have pushed the throttle to full chaos mode pretty much instantly, but they – and more importantly, perhaps, the crowd – kept things at more of a controlled fury this time. Their maelstrom noise punk still sounded great though, and it was nice to shoot their set from a decent angle without having to hang on to the nearest monitor to stay standing. Big Ups put on an impressive showing as well, with a strain of dynamic noise rock channeling theatrical greats like The Jesus Lizard – particularly in vocalist Joe Galarraga’s wild mannerisms.
