Spring is here and it’s a particularly packed month for shows, let’s get into it:

Country-gazers Wednesday headline their biggest Boston show to date (upgraded from Royale and running low on tickets) joined by Florida (post-)hardcore greats Gouge Away.
4/4 – Dirty Three @ The Sinclair
Emotive, elusive post-rock trio Dirty Three return for their first area show in nearly 14 years.
4/5 – Perfume Genius @ Arts at the Armory
After years of increasingly ambitious and vibrant live shows, Perfume Genius’ Mike Hadreas takes a trip back to the project’s roots for a special duo tour that stops at the Armory.
4/8 – Mclusky / Pile @ Paradise Rock Club
Boston heroes Pile are a match made in noise-rock heaven supporting U.K. trio Mclusky, who are touring their (quite good) first new record in nearly two decades.
4/8 – The Wedding Present @ The Sinclair
And meanwhile a tough conflict arises across town, with David Gedge’s Wedding Present performing their masterpiece of serrated jangle Seamonsters in full for its 35th anniversary.
4/12 – Poison Ruin @ Deep Cuts
Philly deathrockers Poison Ruin support their forthcoming second LP Hymns From the Hills with a stop in Medford.
4/14 – Chameleons / The Veldt @ Crystal Ballroom

4/17 – Snail Mail / Swirlies / Sharp Pins @ Big Night Live
Indie rockers Snail Mail are back on the road behind third LP Ricochet with a killer duo of openers in Boston shoegaze vets Swirlies and Kai Slater’s psych-pop project Sharp Pins.
4/17-4/18 – Hopsmokerfest @ Widowmaker Braintree
Widowmaker Brewing presents the latest edition of their yearly Hopsmokerfest, featuring headlining sets from modern doom luminaries Pallbearer and Worcester thrashers High Command alongside eight more bands’ worth of heavy goodness.
4/20 – The Antlers @ Brighton Music Hall
Masters of the dreamy and the heartbreaking, The Antlers are back for their first headlining Boston show in a few years behind 2025’s Blight.
4/21 – Hotline TNT @ First Parish Church
NYC rockers Hotline TNT are joined by Pat Flynn synth-punk project How Much Art, Boston hardcore rippers Can’t Lose and more for a gig to benefit the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of MA.
4/22 – MJ Lenderman / Waxahatchee @ Wang Theatre
Collaborators and purveyors of lyrical indie-folk MJ Lenderman and Waxahatchee level up to Boston’s most ornate theater space for their co-headlining spring tour.

A monster bill of rising shoegazers takes over The Sinclair, rounded out by preeminent bands in the sharp object field Her New Knife and Knifeplay.

Soulful indie rockers Afghan Whigs celebrate their 40th anniversary with a trek stopping in at Royale, joined by ’90s psych favorites Mercury Rev.
4/28 – WU LYF @ The Sinclair

4/30 – Marked Men @ Deep Cuts
Texas punks Marked Men make an ultra-rare area appearance at Deep Cuts to close out the month, joined by local mainstay Coleen Green.
4/30-5/3 – LCD Soundsystem @ Roadrunner and The Hold Steady @ The Sinclair
And rolling over into May, Bowery Boston welcomes a pair of overlapping residency weekends from dance-rock institution LCD Soundsystem in Allston and loquacious rockers The Hold Steady across the river in Cambridge.
