Allston Pudding celebrated 15 years at Brighton Music Hall – 2/27
Venerated local music blog Allston Pudding held a 15th anniversary bash at BMH featuring Sidney Gish, Beeef and Winkler.

Believe it or not, Noise Floor – founded sometime around Spring 2012 – has been around nearly as long as Boston scene bible Allston Pudding. One of us has accomplished considerably more in that timespan.
Since its inception, AP has been home to a dedicated team of writers, photographers and editors with their ears ceaselessly to the ground, tracking the best of Boston’s ever-percolating DIY music scene. They’ve covered big names before they were big, stayed true to their local-first mission and persevered through an era where a seemingly endless number of other publications have not. And they’ve done all of this because the site is a labor of love for the longtime staffers and newcomers alike – one that sticks with you regardless of how long you end up working there. I was a contributor for a relatively brief stretch over a decade ago and have a sizable crew of AP-adjacent pals that I’m still going to gigs with to this day.
Many on the inside and outside have known the blog as something special for a long time, but if you needed tangible proof of it all, February’s extraordinarily-packed 15th anniversary show at Brighton Music Hall – which a not-insignificant number of people flew across the country to attend – offered plenty.
Fittingly, the three-band bill delivered a sort of generation-spanning survey of the past decade and a half in Boston music. New-guard favorites Winkler, whose members also play in a myriad of other bands around town, kicked things off with their eminently charming indie pop before Allston’s house band Beeef – led by AP co-founders Perry Eaton and Daniel Schiffer – brought timeless jangle and a sort of scene veteran presence to the proceedings. Former Bostonian Sidney Gish, whose catchy, quotable songs and loop-driven live shows have made her a nationally-known cult favorite, closed things out to a rapturous reception. Seeing that stage shared between some of the folks who made AP happen in the first place, an artist whose early coverage on the site helped launch her towards an adoring fanbase and a crew representing the future of it all really made the night a heartwarming full-circle kind of deal – and also a great gig. Long may Pudding reign.
