Hallelujah the Hills played Deep Cuts – 6/21

Hometown heroes Hallelujah the Hills headlined a release show for their new quadruple album Deck at Deep Cuts.

__________

Things have been a little quiet around here for the month of June – owing mainly to my move – but we’re back in action for July, recapping some of the shows I did manage to make it to last month. First up is another spirited night with Ryan Walsh and the Hills in Medford.

When you’ve just dropped your most ambitious record ever – a genre-hopping, four-LP, guest-filled opus – the only way to mark the occasion is a real banger of a release show. Hills did just that a few Saturdays back at Deep Cuts, with the sextet welcoming friends and album contributors ranging from singer/songwriter Ezra Furman and Red Sox organist Josh Kantor to Major Stars vocalist Noell Dorsey and sign-master/friend-of-the-blog Brad Searles on stage for a huge helping of new songs.

Having heard a number of these tunes take shape during gigs over the past couple of years (and having worked with the band on their promo photos for the release), it was a blast to celebrate it all coming together with a room full of friends and fans. Definitely the kind of community moment everybody could use more of right now.
