The Dregs took over O’Brien’s – 3/9

The Dregs Records & Liquid Light Show assembled a heavy local bill in Allston with Sea, Coma Hole, Ballast and The Outlourdes.

I’ve made peace with photographing O’Brien’s over the years. It’s never going to be the best-lit room around, but with some primes and some patience, I can get shots I’m happy with. That said, it’s still a thrill when an entity like The Dregs Liquid Light Show steps in and turns the otherwise-plain room into a real thing of beauty.

Thursday night’s show featured a knockout lineup headlined by local sludge/doom greats Sea (who are working on a highly-anticipated new record), plus Connecticut duo Coma Hole, heavy psych quintet Ballast and doom-y power trio The Outlourdes – in addition, of course, to the mesmerizing live visuals.
