Editrix played Lilypad – 12/9
Easthampton’s Editrix headlined a Lilypad late show with Squitch and Theadoore.
I’m a little late on this one, but bear with me as I attempt to stay Accountable To Posting in the new year.
If the Illegally Blind crew is behind a gig, you’re pretty well guaranteed some top-notch, left-field jams. No exceptions on a late Friday evening last month, with math-y art-punks Editrix headlining the Lilypad. The three-piece are the current project from singer/guitarist Wendy Eisenberg, a fixture of greater Boston experimental rock for the past decade-ish, and thrive on an intoxicating mix of technicality and unpredictability. A great live act, and one I’ve made a point to see after a strong first impression opening for Oneida at a bike shop gig on Comm Ave a few years back.
Boston faves Squitch – whose sound also trends toward the playfully off-kilter – were well matched as support, as was Theadoore, the folkier-leaning project of Squitch’s Grace Ward. It was a bill well worth the post-10 p.m. start time.
See photos of all three sets below.
