We lost Hum drummer Bryan St. Pere last week, so I have to open this week’s mix with my favorite song from last year’s still-stunning Inlet – as strong a showcase for St. Pere’s inimitable touch as any. A massive talent and a terribly unexpected loss.

Elsewhere this week, some recent favorites from Spellling, Ski Mask the Slump God, Birds of Maya and Squirrel Flower and, for the first time in well over a year, a featured artist whose upcoming gig I can hype in Boston’s The Sheila Divine. The scene vets return to the stage at The Sinclair on Saturday night with Eldridge Rodriguez and House of Harm for the venue’s first post-pandemic show which, amid some dark stuff as of late, feels like a moment to celebrate.
