Idles played Brighton Music Hall – 9/20

Bristol punks Idles headlined a wild show at Brighton Music Hall with NYC’s Bambara on a recent Thursday night. 

Fresh off the release of their barnstorming sophomore LP Joy as an Act of Resistance, Idles marched into Allston for one of the year’s rowdiest shows this side of The Jesus Lizard. Situated (un)comfortably at the nexus of punk and post-, and armed with a bevy of funny and weirdly uplifting hooks, the quintet’s pummeling tunes sent the packed crowd into a frenzy befitting of their own on-stage antics.

Brooklyn’s Bambara got plenty of bodies moving themselves, serving as a perfectly complementary opener with their emotive noise-punk-blues (RIYL Iceage circa Fields of Love, but thought they could stand to be a little more psychotic).
