Omaha singer/songwriter Simon Joyner made a rare east coast appearance at the Middle East’s Upstairs wing on Monday night with support from Damon & Naomi and David Nance.
West Virginia upstarts Rozwell Kid headlined the very sold-out Middle East Up on Saturday night alongside Chris Farren, Great Grandpa and Leaner.
Before I jetted off to Chicago for the Pitchfork Music Festival this past weekend (photos of which are here, here and here), I swung by the Middle East last Wednesday night for a great double bill with Cincinnati indie rockers Wussy and Boston underground supergroup E.
I had a bit of a morbid start to last week – rapidly working one’s way through “In Cold Blood” will do that. But what better way to combat existential angst at the capacity for human evil than an evening of upbeat Scottish indie pop?
