Kal Marks played the Cambridge Elks Lodge – 3/10

Boston noise-rock trio Kal Marks played a record release show at the Elks Lodge last weekend, joined by fellow locals Nice Guys, Bat House and Furanimal.

Saturday’s Illegally Blind-presented bill efficiently packed plenty of volume into the dingy Elks basement, cranking out four sets on alternating sides of the floor in under three hours. Adventurous noisemakers Kal Marks headlined, celebrating the release of their biting new LP Universal Care, while Nice Guys brought some garage punk energy to the proceedings, Bat House enchanted with their psych-tinged art-rock and Furanimal offered an atmospheric take on the guitar/drums duo – self-described as “spooky bedroom rock.”
