Alvvays played Paradise Rock Club – 10/3

Rising indie pop stars Alvvays headlined a sold-out Paradise on the first night of their North American tour last week, with support from Allston’s Beeef.

Fresh off the release of their widely applauded sophomore LP Antisocialites, Alvvays are on the fast track to becoming a big deal – at least as big a deal as there can be in the realm of jangly rock music. I last caught the Toronto quintet opening for Yuck back in 2014, and three years later they had no trouble selling out a venue more than double that size (with a truly heroic line stretching up Comm Ave before doors). And hey, any band that can write as irresistible a pop song as “Archie, Marry Me” deserves the recognition.

Alvvays delivered all the goods from the new LP and their 2014 self-titled, and hometown heroes Beeef played a well-matched and well-received opening set. See photos from both below.
