Endless Boogie played Deep Thoughts – 6/3

New York City psych-jammers Endless Boogie gave a rare Boston performance on a recent Saturday night at Jamaica Plain’s Deep Thoughts, with support from locals Death Pesos and Steep Leans.

In the vein of expansive psychedelic madness from the likes of Major Stars or Comets On Fire, Endless Boogie ripped through a heavy set of triple-guitar jams led by the capable hand of Paul Major. That one of those other two guitars happened to be played by Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus, sitting in with the band for the night, added a surreal layer to the set. Malkmus acted as sideman through and through, playing rhythm on a battered Telecaster and letting the band do their thing, but it was still pretty cool to stand a few feet away from an indie rock legend in a sweaty JP basement.

Steep Leans’ dreamy tunes and the stoner-psych of Death Pesos provided excellent complements to the evening’s headliners. Check out photos from all three sets below.
